VA Innovation and Research Review System (VAIRRS)

Setting up a new account in VAIRRS/IRBNet

1.  Go to gov.irbnet.org (This website is different than irbnet.org)
2.  Select "New User Registration" in the upper right hand side of the screen
3.  Fill out your first and last name and choose a username and password (must contain 8 characters)
4.  Click "Accept" to accept the terms of use and continue
5.  Search "VA Ann Arbor" to affiliate with us.  Highlight "VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System" and click Continue.  Even if you are located at another VA (e.g. Battle Creek or Saginaw), you will still need to affiliate with VA Ann Arbor for regulatory purposes.
6. Enter your contact information including email address where you can be reached most readily
7. Verify that the information you have entered is correct. If any of the fields need to be edited, you may do so using the yellow “Edit” link.
8. Click “Register” and continue. An automated activation email will be sent to your email address. 
9. You will need to click the link within that email to activate your account.
10. Use the Add an Additional Affiliation link in the User Profile to add research affiliations, if necessary.
